The answers to your questions.
Does this cost anything?
No. It's free.
Who reads my application?
Our team screens it first. If it's selected, it's matched with a Canadian YC alum who knows your industry. Your application is never shared publicly.
How does matching work?
We use the industry, subindustry and tags you choose to find a Canadian YC alum with experience in your space who has time to give you a proper read.
Is every application reviewed?
No. Reviewers' time is limited, so we screen each application and send them the ones where their feedback will make the biggest difference. Use the free application checker to make sure yours is complete before you submit.
Do I need to be Canadian?
At least one founder should be Canadian, or the company should be based in Canada. If you're not sure you qualify, apply anyway and we'll let you know.
What happens to my submission?
It's stored securely and used only for this review. We never send it to YC or anyone else on your behalf.
Are you affiliated with Y Combinator?
No. Forward Deployed Canadian is an independent, community-run program. It is not endorsed by or connected to Y Combinator.
